Cleantech investments managed through specialist fund - AC Cleantech Growth Fund I
Ahlström Capital has invested in early and growth stage cleantech companies through a private equity fund managed by Ahlström Capital, AC Cleantech Growth Fund I Ky. The fund's first closing took place in April 2010 at 50 M€. Ahlström Capital is the seed investor in the fund and co-investors are Finnish financial institutions such as pension insurance companies and foundations. The investments are evaluated in accordance with EVCA Valuation Guidelines.
The cleantech portfolio companies
The specialist fund managed by Ahlström Capital has during Q3/2010 made investments in various sectors of the cleantech universe. The portfolio consists of investments in the following companies.
Mervento
A Finnish company that engineers and provides advanced direct drive multi-megawatt wind turbine power plant solutions for both near shore and offshore applications. It aims at being a technology leader in direct drive wind turbine technology.
Ripasso Energy
A Swedish company that engineers and provides concentrated solar power (CSP) systems that based on a parabolic mirror and a stirling power converter enables conversion of solar energy to electrical energy. The technology has evolved from a well proven concept that has been demonstrated in operation since the early 1980’s.
United Waters International
A Swiss company that develops and produces biological water purification plants. United Waters International’s process purifies drinking water by accelerating nature’s own purification process. The technology provides an environmentally clean and cost-effective method for producing high quality drinking water for municipal and industrial users.
Frangible Safety PostsA UK composite material company focusing on supplying composite sign posts for roadside use that match steel posts in strength but are designed to collapse in a controlled manner in a vehicle collision. FSP’s composite sign posts carry signs on motorways and other busy roads, providing a higher level of safety, lower maintenance costs and sustainability through recycling.
