What is cleantech?
Clean technology refers to products, services, processes and technologies that prevent or reduce energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, and other harmful environmental impacts. The business has been fueled by climate change, rising energy and raw material prices as well as concerns for energy security.

Interesting cleantech companies are being created around such concepts as renewable energy production (solar, wind, biofuel etc.), power reliability and quality, energy independence and security, productivity and efficiency gains in order to reduce energy consumption, innovation in advanced materials, recycling, conservation and pollution reduction.

Clean technology is an increasing trend that has established its position both in Finland and internationally. It has evolved into profitable and independent business, which Ahlström Capital is keen to invest in.

Ahlström Capital’s cleantech strategy

A common theme among target ventures is that they are in possession of proprietary technology that is based on a tried and tested technology platform. The target companies should be able to reach operational profitability without subsidies. The investments are usually made gradually based on a milestone plan, and if milestones are met follow-on investments can be made.
