Ahlström Capital Sells Forest Land to Metsähallitus
Ahlström Capital Oy and its subsidiary Karhula Oy have sold forest land to Metsähallitus (the Finnish Forest and Park Service, a state enterprise operating within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry). The forests are situated in central and eastern Finland and have an aggregate area of over 15 000 hectares.
The deal is carried out so that in the first phase, in 2001, Metsähallitus acquires 1 700 hectares in the municipalities of Uurainen and Korpilahti. For the other areas the parties have signed an agreement, according to which the final deals will be concluded in three separate transactions in 2002 – 2004.
